Come and join workbox OPERA, as we celebrate Frederic, the Pirate apprentice’s 41st birthday, with our Leap Year, 'Come and Sing' production of The Pirates of Penzance. Sing along with the choruses, or just relax and watch the fully-staged performance, with a fifteen-strong cast of professional singers, including G&S greats, Richard Suart and Bruce Graham, eat birthday cake and maybe enjoy a tankard or two of pirate sherry. What could be a better way to spend leap day?
The festivities will take place on Saturday 29th of February 2020, at St Michaels’ Church, Chester Square, and the performance will commence at 7.15pm, with an optional music rehearsal at 4.30pm for those who wish to join in the singing. It’s particularly exciting for us to be performing this opera on Leap Year, in the church where Sir Arthur Sullivan worked as organist and chief musician until 1869.
All proceeds will go towards the ongoing care and future needs of Nicholas Sales, guest artist at the Royal Opera House, and principal tenor with Heritage Opera and the National Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company, who survived a ruptured cerebral aneurysm in January 2019.
Tickets are £20 at full price, £17 with student/senior citizen concession, £10 for under sixteens, and free of charge for children under ten, if accompanied by an adult. They are available to buy online, or can be reserved over the phone on 07470 675588 or via email at . If you have any queries about the event, feel free to contact us by phone, or email.
